FG Rafters

FG rafters were designed and developed by The Truss Joint in conjunction with Mitek Australia’s engineers. During the 2020-2022 period when LVL timber was scarce and timber shortages were high the FG Rafter was born. Developed as a fully customizable rafter to replace LVL’s & I Joist roof rafter designs we kept our builders moving in what were trying times on the industry.

Lightweight, customizable and able to perform on spans up to 9m the FG rafter is the prefect alternative. Performance is met manufacturing from MGP on edge and utilizing a combination of steel and timber webs. Special ends and overhangs are incorporated into all designs. Further advantages include an open web set up which accompany HVAC requirements and electrical voids.

FG Rafter Benefits:

Lightweight: Their weight makes them much easier to handle and install on site. For comparison an 8m 360×63 LVL is approx 130Kg; where as an 8m FG Rafter would weigh approx 30kg.

Customizable: A range of special ends can be manufactured within the rafter i.e: box gutters, exposed eave tails and special connection details.

Performance: Unlike LVL or I Joist rafters that are manufactured straight and deflect. Camber can be built into an FG Rafter and counteract roofing/ceiling loads. Resulting in great long term performance.

Applications: Can be utilized in residential or commercial applications where raked ceilings are required.

FG Rafter End Details

Rafters are built to fixed to overall design heights. Each rafter is engineered specifically for the span and loads of the application. Depths incorporated into designs are 338mm, 392mm, 450mm & 502mm which accompany the steel web depths and allow for most ducting requirements.

Positive feedback has been received by all builders that have installed FG Rafters. Their benefits far outweigh their rafter alternatives, saving time and money on site.
